MedTravel Medical Professional Liability Insurance Product Launched

Dale Underwriting Partners have launched a new insurance product to cater to the growing number of medical practitioners from the United States that travel abroad every year to provide medical services for charity, non-governmental, missionary and aid organisations in foreign environments.

MedTravel provides Medical Professional Liability coverage to US domiciled practitioners and responds to claims made outside of the USA during and after their trip abroad. MedTravel brings together Lloyd’s of London security, international medical professional liability underwriting and service expertise with leading Crisis Assistance Protection services and additional coverage enhancements to provide peace of mind for travelling medical practitioners.

Duncan Dale, CEO of Dale Underwriting Partners advised this new product will help fill the current gap in coverage for medical professionals travelling abroad:

“As it stands there are few options for professionals that require liability insurance for their work outside of the USA. Coverage offered domestically in the USA does not often provide cover for claims arising in foreign jurisdictions. We are delighted to offer a solution to give medical practitioners the comfort that they will not be left exposed in unfamiliar territories.”

MedTravel will now also include Crisis Assistance Plus (CAP™) as a result of the partnership between Dale Underwriting Partners and FocusPoint International, a global risk consultancy specializing in the full provision of travel risk management and crisis response services.

CAP™ memberships include access to the most up to date destination-based health, safety and security information; itinerary-based traveler tracking; on-demand access to travel security and medical specialists; and in-country assistance encompassing the complete spectrum of security-related perils, up to and including physical evacuations for no additional cost to the assured.

Dale Underwriting Partners say MedTravel is designed to compliment travel insurance policies and is available to groups as a corporate policy with scheduled travelers, or to individual travelers for both shorter trips and annual policy periods. The product provides coverage in the majority of countries which are the target for medical missions, subject to US, UK, UN and EU sanctions regulations. The Medical Professional Liability product limits start at USD100,000 per individual and are available up to USD5,000,000, whilst the Crisis Assistance Protection (CAP™) is available for up to 45 days or USD250,000 with up to USD 50,000 of covered expenses in addition. Other optional extensions of coverage, such as Kidnap & Ransom Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment are also available upon request for limits up to USD5,000,000 and USD1,000,000 respectively.
